Mary Schaffer Loop is as close as you can get to a lakeshore hike at Maligne Lake. The first section of the loop runs along the lakeshore and offers some stunning viewpoints. There’s no restroom on the boat, but you find restrooms in the parking lot, in the Lakehouse and Waffle Hut. Strollers are not allowed on the boat, so if you go with a small kid, either bring a carrier or just leave the stroller in the car and manage without it.

The gorgeous blue waters of Maligne Lake make look very tempting for a swim, but the glacier-fed lake remains cold for swimming year-round.
